Both Job Analysis & Post-Offer, Pre-Placement Testing are an important clinical service-bridge to employers as an injury prevention service and a generator of clinical referrals. Essential Function Job Analysis is an ADAA complaint tool that can be used to improve injury management opportunities for employers, medical providers and rehabilitation specialist by defining the strength and positional demands required with specific job tasks. Job Analysis is also a gateway to assisting employers with developing a Post Offer Pre-Placement Protocol for new employees to ensure they have the physical capacity to meet the critical demands of the job. Together these tools decrease risk of costly injury claims. They also open opportunities to increase investment with both Ergonomic Evaluation and Functional Capacity Evaluation!
This practical course will teach you the basics of establishing an ADAA complaint Essential Function Job Analysis and development of POET testing Program in your practice that can increase your revenue stream from employer-based services. This course not only includes instruction on how to perform these services but provides examples for creating compliant protocols within your clinical practice. Thus, this course is geared for clinicals who are new to this area of clinical practice and ALSO clinicians who are looking to improve their current clinical protocols to ensure they are ADAA complaint. In keeping with the Matheson philosophy of developing the “Thinking Evaluator,” this course is particularly important for the practitioner who has relied upon a home grown or commercial Job Analysis or Post-Offer “system” but has not investigated the efficacy of such systems.

- Review of terminology and definitions currently in force
- How to discriminate between essential and marginal functions during Job Analysis Development
- Measuring and collecting job data – the “how to,” tools, and forms to assist

- Understanding the phases of employment for test application
- Test development, validation, and administration
- Test administration – implementation, time, and cost
- Writing up the data – review of formats
- Review of results – ADAAA guidelines for distribution of results
- Instruction in performing Yearly Disparate Impact Testing for protocol validation
- What to do when results indicate the presence of a medical issue
- Practice management issues – space design, equipment, supplies, staffing, and billing
- Review of studies that support the value of POET
- Product development – a step by step approach to expanding your practice – integration of these tools to improve effectiveness with patient care, ergonomics and functional capacity evaluations.
Who Should Attend
In keeping with the Matheson philosophy of developing the “Thinking Evaluator,” this course is particularly important for the practitioner who has relied upon a home grown or commercial Post-Offer “system” but has not investigated the efficacy of such systems. This course will help strengthen your knowledge of ADAA and develop a complaint system for supporting employers in screening new employees to determine if they have the physical capacity to safely meet the critical job demands. This includes development of an Essential Functions Job Analysis and setting up complaint POET screening protocols, procedures and standards for process evaluation. This course will help you set up a new program or function as a guide to improve compliance by supplementing your existing program.

Workshop Hours
Registration on the first day is from 8 – 8:30 a.m.
The subsequent day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break at 12 noon and two 15 minute breaks around 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
